Day to Day

01/02/11
Took the moulds to will, they've worked so far! Took the plasticine off and cleaned them up a bit, cut them down so they are smaller, put the silicon in to make part 2. We'll see tomorrow!

28/02/11
Made 5 boxes, stuck them onto a chopping board with plasticine, embedded the masters into plasticine, poured the silicon over them. Again, wait!

27/02/11
Went into the studio briefly, set up the monitor and had a tidy/organize

25/01/11
Decided I'd try a 2 part mould, went to talk to Will at Woodlane and he gave me some different silicone to try over the weekend. Also went to Cambourne and bought the shagging pigs to mould :)

It took me all day to cut the masters out, it's so difficult! Because they're so small and detailed I couldn't figure out how to do it without damaging them. After I'd got them out (very broken) I tried squirting in the hot wax (dial at 10, 110 degrees, pressure 80) but the figures just snapped when I went to get them out. Now I've done it though, I think next time I can do a better job of cutting the figures out so it's easier.

22/02/11
Mixed the silicon and vaccum it to get the bubbles out, pour into the box and wait 24hrs!

21/02/11
Started the investment moulding process. Had to attach the figures to wax sprews in the shape of a funnel, then make a box for them to go in, then glue them to the base. It took me all afternoon!

Went to see the 3d printer, the design center is amazing! It can't print what I need it to because they're too small, which is reeeeeeally annoying. But, there is a place that can, I must find out how much it is. I bet it's really expensive.

I am in a bad mood.

14/02/11
It's 4 o'clock already!

Valentines....I don't know what to think about it. I was meant to be in a poetry workshop this morning, but feel a little emotionally unstable, so maybe poetry isn't such a good idea :(

13/02/11
Well, the 13th Feb seems as good a day as any to start - I haven't been writing enough about my project so I'm making a vow to blog every day. I will! Well, we'll see.
